I found this great video on the Denver Egotist today called The Art of Logo Design. It’s part of the PBS Off Book documentary series, and it examines the thought processes that go into making some of the world’s most iconic symbols.
Through interviews of the best and the brightest in our industry (Steven Heller, Sagi Haviv, Kelli Anderson and Gerard Huerta), the documentary touches on Logo Origins, Logo Basics, Design Process and Timelessness. They also emphasize that a great logo should be simple (it should work everywhere), memorable, and appropriate for the brand.
If you’re at all curious about great logo design, why logos even exist, and why they matter, this is a must watch. It’s really amazing how much research, thought and time goes into something that seems so simple.
